Remember the bug collection assignment from middle school?
I've been wanting to do one, except a little more upscale. Instead of poster board using a shadow box. Instead of locusts and cockroaches, I thought butterflies would be a nice touch. I've always loved butterflies. When I go for walks, if I see one, it's my reminder that God is always with me. Especially in those months when the Monarchs are migrating to Mexico. I see dozens of them flying through the air.
So when I received my Ballard Designs catalog I knew these butterfly push pins were exactly what I needed.

When the box came, Miss Bee helped me open the packaging for each one. We got the best laugh over the design of some of these. I am a really optimistic, sunshiny kinda person, but the last time I checked...butterflies don't have smiley faces. Maybe in China, where I am guessing these were painted, there's maybe a smiley faced ninja butterfly.
After a little dab of some Rub-N-Buff I toned down his excitement.
I took a shadow box I found on clearance and got to working on pushing the butterflies into the linen covered foam insert.
I'm not sure where I am going to hang this art. Maybe in my newly painted powder room. That project is in the queue.

This reminds me of the bug project I had to do in 10th grade. My fav bug at the time were those shiny green dung beetles from the farm. I stuck one of those on my bug board. But, I like yours better. Butterflies are much more attractive than dung beetles.
